to explore the mountains

In an attempt to explore more of this beautiful country, we decided to head for the hills the other day. We took a tram (think of the Estes Park aerial tramway times 10!) up to the top of a mountain and then another chairlift up even higher.

This place is called "Velika Planina" and it is a big open area in the alps where the farmers and shepherds would bring their herds to graze in the summer.
Now adays, you can rent these little houses and go skiing in the winter and relax or mountain bike in the summer.
It was really beautiful!
We took a picnic and had a really nice time enjoying the views and watching Caleb throw rocks and try to catch ants.
On our way back down the mountain the clouds started rolling in which made the last part of the chairlift ride extra exciting. To bad too, because there were some amazing mountains just behind these clouds!

Woah! That's crazy high! I assume that Caleb had an approved seatbelt on, right? :-)
