to help in the Library

One of my favorite things this fall has been volunteering at the Elementary School Library! Most of the time I get to take Caleb with me and he sits in his chair and helps me check out books to all of the kiddos. We tend to think that more books get checked out when Caleb is sitting there. The kids rush back to their classes and tell their friends, "Caleb is in the Library!" What can I say? Anything to promote literacy!

It is SO much fun to be back at my school and see all of my friends that I used to teach with. I seriously get giddy when I get to help in the Library. It is just too fun to see the kids, look at so many wonderful books, and encourage kids to read. It has really helped fill up my "teacher hole" this fall. 

Most of the time, when I enter the building with Caleb, he gets lovingly swept away by one of the teachers and then passed around to all sorts of people on staff. The other day, even Mr. Bryant our principal, was walking around with him! Caleb is really relaxed and so far, hasn't had any trouble being held by so many different people. 

This is our incredible librarian, Lisa. I can't tell you how fun she makes Library time for the kids (and me!). Just this last week, she hosted an amazing Safari Book Fair! And last year, our school was chosen as THE BEST Book Fair in the COUNTRY! I kid you not! In the whole COUNTRY! Yes, Lisa is amazing and so fun to work with!
